I attached a poultry nipple to a soda bottle for the chicks I'm getting next week. I wanted a mounting stand that I could adjust the height as the chicks grew. I tried to attach the bottle with a bungy cord I had on hand, but it was too tight and was deforming the bottle.
A trip to the plumbing supply store, and $6 later:

It's made with scrap wood, a 4" PVC coupler ($4), and a 4" PVC drain cover ($2), and some wood screws I had on hand.
I cut out part of the drain cover so that the bottom of the bottle will be exposed, and attached it to the coupler with a couple of screws. I drilled a series of mounting holes into the wood so that I can raise the bottle an inch at a time. There are clearance holes for the screwdriver, but during assembly I found out my screwdriver didn't reach that deep. Good thing I had a stubby one and was able to tighten the screws.
