hi well along long time ago maybe 5 months ago some one knocked on my door and said hi we are selling this very expensive bird for 25$ (they were little kids) and i said are you tring to make me stupid i know what that is and there it was a 3 1/2 old morning dove. i said if you guys dont give it to me it will probably die because you guys dont know how to take care of it so they decided to give me the little bird and of course i had to hand feed it for a month. i didnt buy special baby bird food and i made my own. ingridients- cracked corn, millet, sunflower seeds, weat, canary seeds, flaxseeds, andmilo. i put that in the blender and made it into a gerber like substance. once i had it for a week now my baby chicks hatched from the incubator and i decided to put the dove in with the chicks and now became part of their flock!!! it was so cute!!! i let my chicks out into the garden once they were a week old and the dove to and the dove will just follow them all over the garden(i didnt trim her wings). since the chicks grew and left the little dove off i put it instead with my roller pigeons. it seems really happy living in there and it will all ways escape from the cage and will never go away.it could be outside for almost a day without living the yard. can this dove call my hous now home??? like today i was looking for her all over the yard and finally found her sitting and scratching the dirt and she flew off to the pigeon coop!!!! does that mean she is homed now??? its been 5-6 months and shes always outside and has never ever flew away!!!

If you had her since a young age she will accustom your loft or where you brought her up as her home, the place she roost at home will be her safety place (if that makes sense) iv got my doves trained to a whistle so they will come to me (only when hungry) land on my hand when i whistle. You can do this by making one specific noise so the birds relate that sound to food. So let her out when she hasn't been fed let her fly around and then call her and feed her (make sure she has been trained to come before you try this method) hope this helps . As I'm a newbie too

she is really scared of me thats why i cant train her. i have expeirience with brids but this one to hard just today she whent to the chicken coop where she is not supposed to be and got injured in the head bu now in recovery

I have white homers (which are know to be aloof) my birds fly to me on command when I am outside because I treat them to sunflower hearts and shelled peanuts. It takes a little patience but try it. It will make an extra bond between you and your birds. Do not put it in there regular feed but just as a hand treat.
