Mourning Hen

Her balance was a bit off today, her wings where drooping and she was pretty fluffed up. I did see her trip up once. I'm going to check her for scars and bruising in the morning (its pretty late rn) and look for a vet as well- it could very well be a soft tissue injury or a strain.
I hope she's on the mend soon.

Unfortunately, Luna died this morning, we took her body to a friends friend (no we did not know her until today) and she determined that Luna did in fact have a muscle injury on her thigh/hip area. She also stated that it was likely the stress of losing her flock mates and the pain of the injury that eventually killed her. Our remaining chicken seems ok as of now and we will defiantly be taking her to the vet just in case. Thank you all for the help (and for bearing with my excessive use of parenthesis), hopefully this experience has made me more prepared for any more crisis in the future.

So sorry for your losses. You tried your hardest to help Luna recover.

I know all this is painful and still fresh but you may want to consider getting a couple of friends for your surviving chicken. Lone chickens don’t do well in most cases
