So, I'm in the process of building my first chicken enclosure, the indoor portion of which will be in our shed.

I'm heading out there to get on it in just moments....

Yesterday we ripped out all kinds of insulation and evicted all the mice from the shed (we hope) now I'm going to put some new insulation in, but I would like to clean up the mouse urine first.

Can I use bleach or vinegar?

I know mice are attracted to the smell so I'd like to clean it up as best as possible.....someone told me that the wood will hold the smell of bleach or vinegar and I wondered if its safe for the chickens or not.

We would be getting the chickens a week from tommorow, (or maybe a little longer if I don't get the coop done!)and I'd be doing the cleaning today.

A bleach solution should work well. That is one of the recommended cleaning solutions for annual cleaning that I have seen out there. I believe the recommended solution is one tablespoon bleach to 1 gallon of water.
