I have a 1 year old roo. Not sure of the breed, but he is big. Eats layer pellets and free ranges daily. I went out this morning to give everyone a treat since the ground was snowy and they are are out of sorts. I heard an odd noise and looked and my roo was standing there, mouth breathing and wheezing. I felt his neck and cant feel anything odd, his crop seems okay. I looked inside and did not see any yellow stuff or gapeworms. I will need to check again, he has been moved into the hospital for now. He has food and water, and i also put some vet rx on his nose.
Any ideas?
This has not been a good winter for us with chickens. I am getting the defeated feeling
ETA: I just swabbed his throat and no gape worms, came up with some yellow mucus looking stuff. His comb and waddles are a very healthy red, poop was solid and had a green tint.
ETA: he is now breathing with his mouth shut, he just sounds like a cat purring, his eyes are bright and clear
