We have two 4/5 month old cockerels that have been wheezing for about a month now. It's not severe, and I've been waiting to see if it clears up (they were kept inside a horse stall for weeks before we could finish their new coop and run) Also, their breath stinks something awful! We are keeping them by themselves, apart from the flock because they didn't agree with their brother and dad. They seem to be healthy in every other way. Also, with their stinky breath, it's the same smell with both of them and I can smell it (very faintly) in their brother's breath. They have one sister whose breath is normal. Can anyone help? Hormones were suggested, since they have no hens around.

Sounds like they have a respiratory infection.

You could seperate them and try treating them with Tylan. I like the injectable. but you can get powder and medicate their water.
follow the dosage on the package carefully. Be sure the medicated water is the only water source for the treatment time , or they won't get the proper dose..

With the "stinky" breath I would say Infectious Coryza.
What I would do is hit them with some Sulmet ( Sulfamethazine Sodium 12.5% ) for the Infectious Coryza and hit with tylan for CRD ( Chronic Respiratory Disease ).
The Sulmet is 2 tablespoons ( 1 fl oz. ) per gallon of water.
Found on another site
The Tylan is for ( Tylan 200 )
1/4 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for adult size birds.
1/8 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for bantam sized birds.
For ( Tylan 50 )
1/2 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for adult sized birds.
1/4 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for bantam sized birds.

Make sure you angle the needle so you inject just under the skin, and not deep in the muscle tissue.
You will need to use a large needle on your syringe due to the solution thickness of Tylan. (20 to 22 gauge needle works best)
Make sure you inject in a different spot each day.
Tylan can be purchased at most farm supply stores, over the counter in the cattle section.

I can get the Sulmet and the Tylan, but all the water-soluble Tylan comes in 100 gram containers. We don't want to inject as no one here has done it enough. Is there any place that sells water-soluble Tylan in smaller containers?
