Java Green peacock growout journal

Hey all. I recently got a true Java green peacock from Bob's green peafowl. He's about 4 months old I believe. I wanted to start a thread to share mine and this peacock and what I believe to be a pea hen I also have that's close in age. They have their own enclosure for now. I plan to let them start free ranging next spring after the minnesota winter is over. I'll share pics tonight.

That sounds like a wonderful idea! There's nothing wrong with it being in this forum at all, but if you have other poultry, I wanted to make sure you knew we have a Pictures & Stories of My Flock forum where you make your own thread too.

I am always interested in what people mean when they say 'Java'. Did you get pure Greens as in his Imported line or from his American Green, or high Hybrids?

I have an enclosure for them, fully enclosed coop that I'll have a large heat lamp in.

Some pics of the Java Green Peacock and the India Blue ( I believe it is) peahen. I’ll be keeping them in the indoor coop until next spring where I then plan to start training them to free range for food around the 16 acre homestead property
