This morning I noticed that one of my wyndottes had been wandering around away from the rest of the flock. She is holding her mouth like she is in pain or hot but her breathing doesn't seem to be different and it's cool out. Shes scratching and pecking at food but seems to be having trouble swallowing. I'm not sure she's able to shut her beak. I'm unable to tell. She acts as if she wants me to help but she isn't easy to get a hold of. Her feathers are also not as healthy looking as usually.

Try to pick her up and examine inside her beak. Look with a flashlight to see if there is any white or yellow material and mucous inside the beak or throat. Is there any odor? Does the outside of the beak look normal or have any cracks? The the beak come together normally? Does she have any signs of a respiratory infection, such as nasal drainage, watery or bubbly eye or sneezing? How does her crop feel?
