Move goose egg from incubator back to goose

A Canada goose laid an egg and then left it for many days. I know that they can leave them for 7 to 10 days while they lay more eggs before they start setting. That didn't happen. I brought it inside and I have it in incubator and it appears to be developing. We're on about day 14. My question is, if it's very warm out so the egg doesn't cool too much, could I try putting it back in her nest to see if she sets on it? She's been getting out in and out of it lately but hasn't laid any more eggs. If this is okay to do, how much time do I give her to start setting before I bring the egg back in. If that's even an option?

She’d either need to be brooding on similarly-developed eggs, or brooding on nothing, in order for you to return the egg properly. Otherwise, she wouldn’t take the egg, or the egg would hatch out of sync with other eggs.

If you’re in the USA / Canada, it is illegal to tamper with Canada geese, their nests, and their eggs. If you cannot return the egg, you’ll need to finish the hatch yourself & get the baby to a wildlife rehab asap.
