Hey, cross-posting because I need to make a decision today. :) Thanks in advance.

Hey! Have a broody Buff mama with 5 new chicks. However, they're all in a nesting box above the ground. (About 2.5 feet up). It's been 24 hours; they haven't been out of the box. Don't they need food and water? Should I move the little family to a nest on the ground?

I'm inclined to let nature take its course and trust the hen, but I'm looking for advice...

Should I leave them or move them?

In nature she would have made her nest on the ground. I would move them where they will be able to access food and water and be able to get back in their nest. If you don't want them to go back to the nest for a protected place to sleep then you can leave them where they are and let them hop down when their mamma leaves the nest. Good luck!
