Hello, we moved from Brick NJ where we had a whole slew of bok bok, roosters as well, (and we didnt even check ordinances, thanks goodness there ere no neighbors!) to Toms River and have no idea what the laws are. Right now we are chicken-less cause we couldnt take them when we moved, I was having twins and we had no time for the birds. So now the kids are old enough and I want to get some hens. We have one neighbor who looks for every reason to complain so I have to do this legit!! Im going to do my homework but in the meantime does anyone know about the rules over here?? Thanks!!!!!!!

Each city, county, Home Owners Association, subdivision, township, whatever is likely to have its own rules and regulations. Personally I’d do my own research checking with the ones that control it instead of trusting a stranger on the internet like me. If you are in a HMA or something like that, talk to them, but also talk to the person with the badge that would enforce town, city, or county laws, the animal enforcement officer. From your post, you need to get this right.

How do you find them? Who would you call with an animal complaint with a neighbor? Call your local law enforcement office non-emergency number and chat with them. They should be able to hook you up with the right person.
