I posted about this a week or two ago, when I found out I was getting silkie eggs. I had two chickens sitting on 5 eggs each, and when I got the silkie eggs to set under one of them, their eggs were on day 15. So I combined all 10 eggs under one broody, and gave the other the 4 silkie eggs.
I was advised on here to move the hen with the silkie eggs, and I planned to, but then my son had a serious accident, and we've been just getting through it for the last couple of weeks.
So, long story short, the chicks hatched today, a day early, and the two broodies were in neighboring nest boxes. One of the new babies got through to the mama with the newer eggs. So I brought her and the silkie eggs into a rubbermaid tub in the house. I can't believe how quickly she settled back down onto them.
Now I'm hoping that she didn't get too much of a taste of chicks, and give up on these silkie eggs that I've waited so long for. Cross your fingers for us!
