I had done that a few times after learning my lesson, but as far as I am aware the bear never came back. I did accidentally let the dog out while the fence was on, and she zapped her nose. Oops. That's why you drape raw bacon over the hot wire so they first meet the fence with their nose/tongue.
Or it did, got zapped, and never came back.I had done that a few times after learning my lesson, but as far as I am aware the bear never came back.
Poor pup, she'll stay away from there too....I did accidentally let the dog out while the fence was on, and she zapped her nose. Oops.
It is possible it got zapped. I had set up a baby monitor in hopes that any noise would wake me, but who knows if it would have woken me. The rooster crowing sure did wake me up at 4am thoughOr it did, got zapped, and never came back.

....and never beg for bacon again.
Gah!! Hopefully you could turn if off in the house! The rooster crowing sure did wake me up at 4am though
And might be very entertaining and satisfying to see video of a bear getting it's nose zapped <evilcackle>I need to get a trail cam. That’d set my mind at ease.
I very much want to see the bear get zapped. I also want folks to see how big it is. It was the largest male black bear I’ve ever seen. And yes, the baby monitor can be turned off in the house. The reason I started using it is because at the time the bear attacked the coop the second time, we had a guest staying in our house and her room was closest to the coop. The noise woke her up and she woke us up. From my room, you can’t even hear the rooster crow. As annoying as the baby monitor is, it’s nice to know I could hear the chickens making noise. It’s noise sensitive is set so that only louder noises can be heard. Their normal soft clucking and moving around is inaudible. I’d use a cheap camera but WiFi isn’t an option. I never thought I’d be implement so many crazy things to keep my flock safe!Gah!! Hopefully you could turn if off in the house!
