I was so excited to finally get the girls and Roo "outside" outside. The coop was in our garage and they were outside, where they were on a cement floor and very protected from noise and outside things that go bump in the night. We FINALLY moved them to the real outdoors, where they are under trees and well protected from the weather but now they won't come out of the coop into the run! I am sure they are terrified of the new noises they are hearing and the ground is dirt / grass / mulch. But I feel so bad because it's 100 degrees here and they WILL NOT come outside. I have tried treats, actually taking them out of the coop and placing them in the run - but they just run back in! Any suggestions or is it just a matter of time to accept the new environment?

Time maybe the best bet. Can you move their food container out to the run for a day? They'll get hungry and I would think have to go down into the run to get food.

I actually have food and water in both the coop and the run. But I almost feel like if I take it out of the coop, I am depriving them

My chickies are definitely my babies, and they are already quite spoiled!

Change is the conditions does take time to adjust to. If they have good ventilation and in the shade they should be alright in the coop. Look at it from another way at least you don't have to chase them in at night.
