Hi hi! So I’m coming up on my second summer with my flock but this is the first one where they are laying. I have 6 Easter eggers I got last year and they have been laying fabulously for a few months now. My question is, I live in woodland California, it’s starting to get really hot here and their egg count has significantly dropped. They are even starting to escape the run (it’s mostly uncovered, we expanded it to give them as much space as possible and have a rooster that protects them) but I’m wondering is it a good idea to maybe set up a new nesting box’s in a shady area where I found an egg? Maybe they will like laying outside rather than in the hot coop? Our coop does have large open (meshed) windows but it’s like 90’s here already so I understand why they wouldn’t want to go in there to lay. I’m going to tear down and rebuild a giant enclosed covered run bc I don’t really want them escaping but in the meantime, outside nesting box’s? Thoughts? Thanks
