moved old brooder 1/2 mile * Pics

We just moved our building
This was the old brooder coop (10 x 12) that sat on our farm. When we built the shop it had to be moved and it was moved a 1/2 mile down the road to the woods to be used as a shelter/creep feed area for baby calves.

It sat their probably 10 years. Now I decided I wanted chickens so we moved it back to were the old hen house was ( which took up the whole concrete bad where the propane take is to the end of the brooder and the 10 feet in the back, That was a big coop)

It is in really good shape we are going to put tin on it to match the rest of the buildings.

Yesterday I found the old windows that go in it ( I am glad no one throws stuff out around here)


I will post more pics of it completed in the near future

That is a great chicken coop! I love that style. I know of 2 around here that are abandoned and when I drive by I always think how many chickens could be raised to feed a family.

How cool! Can I ask some specifics as to you how you lifted it and what did you actually move it on? We are looking at moving a brooder house as well, only we have to move it about 10 miles. Did you have to brace it inside before moving?

We used Old telephone poles as skids and then used a piece of guardrail bolted to each of the telephone poles. Hooked a chain around the guardrail and to the tractor and pulled.
The first time it was moved to the woods they used boards inside going diagonally corner to corner.

This time we didn't do any bracing.

When we got it home we bolted it down to 4x4 and than we pouned a pieces of steal to anchor it to the ground. Then used screws to sure up the loose boards

Oh yeah we used the skid loader to lift it to get the poles underneath
