My wife and I built a new addition onto our small coop yesterday and then closed off the old section with chicken wire. We moved our four 6 week old lavender orp chicks into the old section after they have spent the last month or so in a Tote brooder. They must think the 4x4 space is the Hilton!! The older chicks can see the little ones and hopefully get used to them over the next few weeks. my plan is to remove the barrier when the size difference is not so great, then let nature take it's course.

16 square feet of floor and they walk on a 3 inch wide feeder!!

I think this one may be a roo, but it may be a little early to tell yet.

I dunno... You may have all hens. At six weeks I had a rooster that had a very prominent comb, where as the others had none. It could just be an early developing hen?

Yeah, it is very possible. I am way to inexperienced to even venture a guess, but that doesn't stop me. 4 hens would be fine for me.... for now.

I can't wait for them all to feather out. They look kinda scruffy right now, but they will look beautiful!!
