Would they not clear them themselves like it was a fast food ducky drive thru ?

Round where we are, there are ants nests all around the outside of our perimeter fence, none on the inside - somehow the word is out that they won't last five mins near our lot....

Ours are standard black ants tho !

There have been black ants I the pen and the ducks don’t seems to do anything. These fire ants were swarming all over the pen. On the sides, in the water and food dish. And they were huge. Found where they were making their mound and figured poisoning the nest was best Given the size and amount. Hopefully by tomorrow they will be gone and they can go back out

Can you use this poison inside the run safely?

Fire ants don't work that way. I have some that make "nests' in the duck run at times but the ducks don't seem interested in eating them. They will make a nasty bite on you so maybe the ducks know this instinctively. I had an armadillo that lived in our barn for years but unfortunately, he got chopped up recently when they hayed the field out back of us. Now we have nothing to deter them. Poor Porky, RIP.

Can you use this poison inside the run safely?

I think so it’s right at the edge of the run. And the actual mound is in a section they don’t usually go to.

This stuff worked fast last time I had fire ants. I laid the poison out in the evening and by next morning the mound was dead. If it works just as fast I can shovel around it and dig out the poison and replace the dirt with “clean dirt”

Or just hose it down. The poison I have can’t get too wet or it dilutes. I will probably keep them out a few days anyway just to be safe
