I hatched 6 EE's this spring and was lucky enough to get 4 hens and of course 2 roos.
They are about 16 weeks old and have started mating with the laying hens and since I don't plan on hatching any from them and since they are SOOO ROUGH (I hate bare back hens) with them they went off to the fattening pens yesterday evening.
I was hoping they would hold off on the sexual maturity thing for about another month but no such luck. It just causes me a little extra work I didn't want to mess with but I want a little extra fat and meat, right now they isn't much of either on their bones.
They will be a pot of chicken and dumplings with the first good cold weekend this winter. YUMMY!!!!
