Movie Channels On Dish Network Satellite

We have Dish and my one major complaint is that we constantly lose the signal. Unless it is a really bad storm, it usually doesn't stay off for very long but it is aggravating. I think it is a bit pricey but I have no idea what cable costs as we don't have that option. We get the highest level of channels because we like Nat Geo, Discovery, and a couple of the others that are not offered on the lower tiers......gosh but I wish they would offer a'la carte and let you create your own package. Overall though, we have been satisfied.

Well we decided against Dish right now. At least from the rep we talked to.
THe deal going on is for 3 TVs to be on the system.

He told us it was for 2.
Then he asked us to pitch in gas money for the installer. $15, cash please.
I said we should just wait until there are enough orders in the area to make it worth the trip. He said that wouldn't work because the installers start school soon. (??????????)

So we got online with the chat support feature and asked about all this nonsense. Of course none of htis is standard procedure and since we had to tell the online chat person our address, we were not surprised when we called the rep to cancel he didn't even ask why.

I mean if a 2 hour drive to install something is so far you have to strong arm for gas money, they WHY would you drive up here to go door to door to drum up business?

When we had ours installed, the guy told us that we would have to pay him to bury the cable, only to find out later on that it was INCLUDED for him to bury it, NOT to pay him extra. Then some time later, we had problems with the remotes not working, if you had the tv on in one room it would turn the tv off in another room and other stuff, well they charged us to come out and fix it only to find out it was their mistake to begin with from when the kid hooked it all up to begin with, but we still had to pay them to fix their mistake. The list goes on and on, Im about ready to tell them where they can stick all of their stuff and help them in putting it there................

The Dish network guy that came out here TOOK our direct TV equipment off the house and didn't even ask if he could have it.
I felt like he had stolen something but DH said it was not a big deal.

We pay $52.99 a month for DirectTV, the basic package. We don't get National Geographic or the Military Channel, which really bites, but man, $53 for t.v.? We have it on Noggin most of the time anyways. With DirectTV, the remote doesn't work for volume unless you get up and walk halfway across the room, thereby negating the point of the remote.

I wish they'd do a la cart, also. I'm sure it would be a money loser for them, though.

You wanna know what I hate the most about satellite and cable? I hate when you can barely hear the show your watching but the commercials are so loud your blood pressure shoots up. That was our SeaBiscuit experience today. Didn't hear any dialogue, but I can tell you all about Jenny Craig and Plavix.

Eggs 4 S.. your right the sound almost shatters the windows when the commericals come on.We to have same Directv
Basic. for the past 11 years. but we can use our remote for volume control.
could the batterys be the problem.

Our new TV stops the advertisements being louder than the programs we watch. I wasn't aware of that feature until after we'd bought it and had it delivered/installed. I'm sure glad that it's on there because those extra loud blasts used to really get to me.
