Hi everyone, due to the torrential rains here in CO we haven't been able to finish our coop until now. We need to get these chicks moved into it tomorrow but I'm not sure of the best way to do it. The coop is very small ,(on purpose) but there is a pretty large run attached. They are used to free ranging during the day and then go to their brooder in the garage on their own at night.
My question is how do they know to go to the coop at night so we can lock it?
I have seen other posts that mention locking them in the coop for a few days, but because of the size, I'm not sure that's good for them.
What has worked for small coop people?

It should be the same no matter the size of coop wait till its pretty dark out to see if they will go in on their own if not you will have to put them in after a few days they should figure it out also put them in the coop when you first take them out so they know where it is

You can go to the learning center an go to Deciding to Free Range your Flock. There is some very helpful info on how to get your chicks to come back every night. You'll have to put them in there coop an run an not let them out for about 2wks, Put there food an water inside coop. They will get the idea that that's home now just like they are doing now with the brooder.
