So on November the 13th 62 healthy chickies came in the mail, I put them in my 6' x 8' brooding pen with 3 heat lamps and all were well. Now they're almost 8 weeks old and are starting to get very big for their pen.. I've been wanting to move them in my new 16' x 8' coop but temps here are freezing!
It's right now -14c (6°f) here. Will they be fine without a heat lamp? Or should I just wait until next week when temps are suppose to get warmer, like 1°c (34°f)
I'm leaning towards waiting but if my chicks are old enough to be without their heat lamp then I might as well move them now..

At 8 weeks they're old enough but they can't go straight from room temps to 6F at any age. They need a place to slowly acclimate. Do you have an unheated garage or something similar for temporary housing?
3 or 4 days of 30sF and they should be ready.

No, No garage here. I might just wait until next week.. Thank you for your response~
