Moving a broody hen

Almost all the eggs are brown but not dark brown.
I candled the 2 from today and all that we have in the fridge and can see in them quite well.
Never noticed the variety until I did this. Big variance in size and Color, couple Almost white.

Its very nice and bright in your coop. They probably need nore privacy and dark in the nesting boxes.
The ones attached to the wall look like they would be bouncy or move a bit when the hens were in them, and they may not like that.
For the box in inside the broody box, try another crate and lay it in its side. Then cover it on top and three sides with something. Cardboard or towel, then it will be darker for her.
For the snake problem, dig a trench around your coop, attach 4 foot hardware cloth below the surface about a foot and up the wall. I would think that would block access. They still might get in your chicken access door during the day when it is open though.
FYI dont know your situation or setting but guineas hate snakes, they kill them.

I can see why they use the chair.
Main reason is probably head room on the wooden nests and stability on the crates.
I would get rid of everything but the wooden nest bank and improve those by adding sides on the ends and a higher 'roof'.

Might need something different for the goose if it's a layer.

Oh ok, didn't think about too much light nor head room.
Does this laying box(s) look like a good height off ground? I'd like to raise it a little but not sure of benefit/drawback.

I've built poop trays and going to install them with a couple new roosts to help with cleaning. Was planning to move the laying boxes in the process, will enhance the laying box then.

Right now there are 2 smaller cages that is mounted from center of the coop to the south wall. Unfortunatly this cage is about the only high place for them to roost, so you can imagine the pain that is to keep clean.

The South and East walls are solid so was thinking to move laying boxes to south wall for wintertime.

Those crates were tyraped to the wall and are flimsy, I have cut most of them down.

Couple months ago I started mowing the field behind the coop and haven't seen a snake since. I'm sure that helped but know there still around. They have to go 50-60 yards in wide open to get to coop now.

Overall the coop has open floor plan and have been trying to figure out a layout that will be good for wintertime as well.
