I have a flock of 1 year old Buff Orpingtons; 9 hens and one active rooster (thats Poppa!) One of the hens has been sitting on a clutch of 10 eggs for the last week in a small nesting box. If I move her and her eggs to a large dog crate to use as a breeder box will she still sit on them to hatch or is that too stressful? Will she abandon them? I'd like to see her hatch them as I don't have an incubator yet, but I can't think of a safe place for her and her potential chicks! Any Advice?
Thanks!

Also mom to all the BO "girls", and 4 porcelain D'Uccles, 1 silver duckwing, 1mottled cochin, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Jersey Giant, and 1 Americauna, a bantam, and my "mutt"chicken. I love em all!

I just moved my first time broody (hers and mine) on day 17. I moved her into our house in the spare bedroom. She was fine with that and hatched at 9 beautiful babies. I did it late in the evening and put her in a dark room. She has been a devoted mom.

Good luck.
