Hey all! I need some advice. There is a distinct possibility that I will be moving unexpectedly to a different state this summer and, if that happens, my birds would be coming along. However, I do have quite the flock. Here's what I've got:

47 hens
6 roosters
5 ducks
23 pigeons (18 Homers, 5 Ports)

+2 goats and a rabbit

Now, ideally, I'd group the birds in large dog crates, but with this many birds, that's just a lot of crates. Obviously, the pigeons would all need to be in cages of some kind, but could the chickens be loose in a large livestock trailer of some kind? And would the roosters be stressed so close to each other? I currently have all of these birds in different flocks and in different coops, so it'd be mixing flocks too. The different types of pigeons would be separated too ideally. Plus, I'm in Colorado and summers here get pretty darn hot. How would I keep them all relatively cool? Again, nothing's decided, but I'd love some help thinking through a game plan. How would you move them all? Thanks for any help! ;)

Get your self six poultry crates used for transporting chickens.

Stock no more than 10 birds per unit. Take them off feed the day before departing. Do all driving at night and make certain good air flow. If you must stop, try to find a shade tree to park under. Make certain they are watered during the day. Do not feed while in transport.

I assume you have the pigeons handled.

First I'd have to look at the laws of taking birds and other livestock across state lines, I know there are some rules about the do's and don't's of that.
