Someone is giving us their hen, her roo and about 20 eggs she is setting. They live about an hour from here so they will be in the car for a bit. I worry she will leave the eggs... if she does I do have an incubator I could put them in worst case scenario. But I would love for her to hatch them on her own. We plan to use the box we pick her up in as her permanent nest for when she gets here so at least we wont have to move her again. We were going to use an old dog crate. Should I keep the door shut to keep her in for a while to help her accept the new place before leaving the nest? I stay home all day so I will be watching her quite a bit to see how she does. I believe they will be on our farm about 5pm. So it will be getting dark a couple hours later anyway.

Anyone ever move a setting hen with success?

close the door on the kennel and if possible put her in and cover it with something to make it dark right afterwards. Have the bator up and running just in case. Good luck
