Okay, had one chick to hatch yesterday and today I moved him to the brooder, now today I've had more to hatch but it hasn't been 24 hours and their still a little wet so I know I shouldn't move them. The one little chick will not hush, he has chirped all day since I moved him, I'm thinking he's just lonely because everytime he sees one of us he will hush. Do you think it will be alright to move one of the dryer ones to the brooder with him so we can sleep tonight, he's in our dining room but he is so loud that I could hear him when I was taking a shower. This is my first hatch, I started out with 24 eggs, one hatched yesterday and so far 11 today, with 2 more pipping, I'm very happy with the hatch so far I was so worried when I started this and I sure don't want to mess up now.

Try putting a small stuffed animal in there with him. He may just snuggle up w/it and pipe down!

Stuffed animal is a good suggestion!

What we did with my pullet when her sister died was get her a small mirror. She would see her reflection and think it was another chicken and quiet down, she also snuggled with her own reflection.

Also, we use to play soft music for my parakeet when we went away for long hours during the day...the sound of voices comforted him and he stayed relatively calm. (He plucked his own feathers when he was alone and panicked.)

Thanks, we had tried a stuffed animal and it didn't like it. Just tried the mirror and it seems to be working, it's funny he keeps pecking at himself, but at least he's not still chirping constantly. I've taken some pictures I'll try and get them on here.
