Moving chicks outside with sudden temp drop

One more update: tonight is finally the first night outside in the coop for the Beans and soon to be the start of 24/7 outdoor time for them. The weather report says low of 33F tonight, so if I put a 10F margin of error on that like I've seen happen before, it's still safely within what Vanilla Bean can handle these days without his face turning bad colors. There may be the occasional day here or there where I need to bring them back in the house to be safe as winter eases up, but otherwise I think they'll be outside most nights now. Vanilla Bean's comb is getting very gradually thicker over time so I expect next winter he will be fine.

A side of effect of having had house chickens over the winter: these two sure knew how to make me feel like a meanie for putting them to bed in their coop tonight. Coco Bean escaped and tried to run back to the house, and Vanilla Bean started crying and tried to crawl into my coat. It's not like the coop is a new area to them; they both spend plenty of time hanging out in there during the day. It's just the first time I've tried to close them up in the coop in the evening instead of letting them walk back to the house with me.
