Moving chicks outside

Any other opinions on whether we can move the chickens out today with no problem? The employee at tractor supply was adamant to not move them out until the night time lows warmed up.

My wife is ready for them to be out of the house.

Here is a pick of the coop. Getting the net over the entire coop and run was an adventure but we got it and looks great. It’s dog kennels linked together with welded wire around the entire thing at the bottom. It goes 12 inch’s up and extends 12 inches on the ground to try to prevent predators.

If you have electricity to the coop, I would add the MHP instead of a heat lamp. And add them when they have maximum warmth in the coop. My windows face south, so even though it’s been cold, they are out of the wind and have a place to sunbathe! I would not be comfortable with a heat lamp unless it’s your only option.

I was looking to do the MHP thing, it makes total sense to me, but every heating pad I looked at on Amazon had a couple of pictures of ones that had literally caught fire which was super scary.

I suppose any time you have something plugged in there is risk of fire, but a significantly lower risk than a heat lamp! I used a heating plate this year, but will consider the MHP and brooding outside from day one next year.
