Ok so my chicks are about 5 weeks old now and I'm ready to move them out to the coop. The problem is we're not done constructing the run yet. Can I move them to the large coop for a week or so while we finish building the run? They're getting super cramped in their little brooder.

I would say yes, i usually keep mine in the coop for a few days anyway,
Let them get used to the coop, them let them out to the run after it is done.
It should work out just fine. I would put a light of some kind out there for them for a while as they are used to it and it comforts them. Do you have some roosting ares for them?
We would love to see pictures!

It's already dark or I'd go out and take some pictures. It's an old large shed that 1/3 of it had already been sectioned off for a coop at one point or another. All we had to do was put a door on it and it's done. My kids will miss their chickies inside, but the poor babies need more room. I figured it would be ok, but wanted input from others before I just put them out there. I've been turning their light off in the house at night for the past week anyway, so their used to it getting dark at night. They're all fully feathered so heat isn't an issue. Plus I'm in Texas so it's still in the 70's at night here.

I got all my little chickadoos moved out to the hen house! I'm hoping to get the run completed this weekend.
