Moving from city to country - any advice?

They were Buff Orpingtons actually, and fully grown, fluffy, fat girls. It was wildly impressive to watch them get over that fence.

Wow, that's impressive leaping for a bird that size. Reminds me of the first time I saw wild turkeys flying up to roost in tree branches. They got up there, but it wasn't pretty and it wasn't quiet! :gig

For my crazy fliers, I'm torn between keeping everybody where I want them and the the painful thought of catching and clipping 55 sets of wings. I'm starting to think "who am I to tell them where they can hang out". :p

I am planning on raising chickens and to keep them seperate and out of the garden I figure some steel posts and a roll of orange snow fence. I clip wings because I have had enough trying to keep them out of the trees. Only takes about 15 minutes to clip a hundred head. Do it at night when on the roost. Only clip one wing or they can still fly Make sure you always clip a left or a right wing as it is easier to clip them next time. If you just want to keep them from your neighbors then just fence between him and you. Chickens dont usually wander to far from the coop. If so then let them out later in the day. My 2 cents worth. Know what Im sayin?
