Hello!
I have three geese that we’re trying to move from a small pond and keep by a lakeside, but they keep trying to return to the pond. They get nervous a lot around the lake side, they start shaking a lot, but they seem to do ok whenever someone is with them. At night, we try to keep them in a large cage by the lake side, which they refuse to go into, despite having food inside of it, it’s often a two man job to try and convince them to go in.
We’ve had to move them due to the small pond being too close to the road, and them bothering/attacking neighbors. I believe that they’re African/Chinese geese, if that helps, and we have two females and a male.
If anyone could help me out, that’ll be great.

I assume that the geese are territorial, and are used to their pond. That is where they call home. I can also see how they do not want to go into a cage at night. If there was a coop that they were raised in, then they very well would return there for night.
I don't have answers for you, but hope someone else does.:thumbsup
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and:welcome

All I can add is geese do not like change, but as far as getting them moved to their new area maybe @Iain Utah can help she has geese. Only way I see to keep them from returning to their beloved pond is to fence them in at their new place and above all keep them safe. I am sure they are frightened.

Thank you for all of your help! I was able to convince them to stay, instead of going to their other pond, by giving them a garden sprinkler to play in, haha
