I would appreciate advice on the following situation. We have a farm with a lot of acres, and lots of predators, so we give our guineas a coop to roost in at night to keep them safe.

We like to raise our guinea keets close to the house to keep an eye on them, and it seems like they imprint on this area and while they free range all over the farm, the adults circle back to the house and happily go into their coop at night.

The issue is that we are having issues with the noise, and would like to locate them farther from the house (about 500 feet away, and through an area of woods) during the summer, but keep them in the side yard during the winter.

Does anyone have experience moving a whole flock of guineas in this manner? I would probably keep them enclosed for at least a week when moving their location, but even with that measure, are they likely to get disoriented and lose track of their coop? I'm afraid they would come "home" to a place where the coop isn't located anymore, and not be able to find their way inside for the night.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with experience on this.

I think you need to pick one place and one place only for your guineas. I recommend that you forget about moving them back and forth.

Once you have chosen where you are going to keep your guineas housed, you need to pen them in there for 6 weeks. It has been a long established (by expert guinea owners) amount of time required to get guineas acclimated to and accepting of their new home.

Some people shorten the amount of time by only releasing a few of the guineas at a time while the remainder of the flock remains in captivity. The released guineas are typically different guineas from day to day.
