One of my hens is the happy mama of a 3 day old chick. She and the baby are in one of my nesting boxes in our coop (they have access to food and drink) but mama hasn't left the nesting box since the baby hatched on Friday. At some point should i move them, or trust that mama will get up and out when it's time to do so? (There are no other eggs, though she keeps stealing the eggs from the other nesting box (they aren't fertilized--her baby is an adoptee day old chick).

She should get up and move the chick when she feels ready, sometimes it's taken my hens a few days but they'll eventually (in my experience) start taking the chick out to explore : )
