moving my girls- tips?

Well hubby is deploying again so we are moving back home, we have a trailer that our tractor will fit on just fine and a tarp, etc.
Has anyone moved their flock before? Any tips, advice, comments?

We did not move our chickens, but my brother and sister in law did, from Massachusetts, to Pennsylvania. They loaded them in dog crates on a trailer, and my parents towed them to their new home. The feathers flew, but it was good weather. They did cover them with a tarp to cut down the wind. They all survived and did fine.

We put them in a large-ish dog crate, inside their tractor, under a tarp on the trailer.
They were perfectly fine and are LOVING their new home, i feel silly for worrying now lol
