South Eastern Mass
Hi Everyone. We are leaving South East MA for NC in about 4 more weeks.. ok 5.. but it feels like less. We are trying to develop a coop that we can put on a trailer and tow behind us to move our 7 chickens. I would appreciate any suggestions at all for design as well as ideas of ensuring a safe relocation for our chickens.

Anyone with ideas on how to move our bunnies (we have four) please toss your two cents in as well. I've seen a portable coop design on FB with a farm that's doing a large distance relocation..but it raised some questions in my mind. So I am here begging for help... Suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!

This has come up before and the best solution was thought to design the coop so that the roof, walls, and floor could be moved as panels and rebolted together after the relocation. Of course it is possible to move a coop as one unit but much more difficult. You will need a big truck or flatbed and a lot of people or the right equipment.

Thanks we are looking to design something that once we arrive we can use for a temporary coop for a few weeks until we decide what we'll be building down there. Our new home is a rental with option.. If everything works out we'll be on 7 1/2 acres permanently.. There is a nice run area already set up.. just no housing...I want to be sure of things like ventilhation, hydration, well everything I can possibly think of as we are hoping to make the trip down in two days rather than have to do a straight run...

Thanks again for ideas..

We always transported our girls in large dog kennels although I am not sure how many chickens you have (we would only transport 4-5 to the fair grounds and back). We have also used large dog kennels for temporary housing, ours are large plastic sided with windows and your typical wire door.
