Hi, Our coturnix are 2 weeks old today. Happy Birthday crazy little birds!
My question is- the temperatures in our area are supposed to be mid 70's to low 80's over the next week with nighttime temps 60 or above.
Our quail set-up in the barn is above ground pens built into an old stall. There is no electricity in the barn but we could run an extension cord if needed.
Do you think it's safe to move the 2 week old Coturnix to the barn yet? We've been trying to get them used to fresh air by opening the windows in the room with the brooder- but we have 1 week old Bob's in the other half of the brooder - and they still need the brooder lamp so the Coturnix are still getting some heat from the lamp even though it's on the bobs side of the brooder.
We've never had anything younger than 4 weeks old in the barn so I'm nervous about moving them out there and them getting too cold. We do close the barn door at night to keep critters out- hopefully. Kristi
