So our first batch of cotournix quail are now 4 weeks old, and we've got at least 5 males out of 14. We are just moving them out of the brooder, but we've noticed amidst all the new crowing, that almost all of the males keep pursuing one specific female. They keep mounting her and she's getting a bald chapped spot on her head.
There's a bunch of other ladies to pursue, but this one hen keeps getting all of the attention.

Anyone know what's going on? She's such a sweet plump tuxedo hen we don't know how to help her catch a break.

Sometimes there will be a favourite. If you remove her from the pen for a couple days, they will start mating with the others and may not go back to her exclusively when she returns.
Thank you, we'll stick her back in the brooder for the time

The boys seem to be pursuing the other ladies now. Great solution.
Do quail have to be integrated like chickens or will she be able to just go right back?

Since she hasn't been gone long, you should be able to put her right back in. If you want to be cautious, put her in after dark so they all wake up together.
