We’ll be moving in to our new house this winter, early December most likely. We’ll have more acreage and don’t know yet what we ultimately want to construct for our flock, but ideally it’ll be moderately mobile so we can move them to different parts of the farm.
Anyway, my question is, what could we put together quickly, affordably and very easily for them until we can build something more permanent? They can free range so no need for a run, just a simple structure to protect them from the cold and predators will suffice. Pallets stuffed with straw? Bunch of straw bales stacked together with a plywood roof? Would love some ideas and photos if you have them!!!! This will be a temporary structure as we plan on getting to work on a coop very quickly after we take ownership and get moved! We currently have 13 in our flock.
Thank you!

i set up a pvc 'run' out of 2" pvc one time, you can cover it with cardboard really if its temporary .. so you need pipes fittings glue a roll of wire and a couple of bags of zip ties .. maybe a couple of hinges and long enough hardware if you want to try to make a door .. it was really an eyesore though .. i'd probably just get a pile of toobysticks and build something instead ..

How about a hoop coop?

You'll still need predator-proofing -- especially on country property with a heavier predator load than suburbia -- so nothing too flimsy.

Where are you? (You can add your general location to your profile). What does winter weather look like for you? Will the coop need to stand up to snow load? Be at risk of flipping due to storm winds?
