My chicks are getting too big for the brooder. They will be five weeks on Monday and at this point I've turned off the heat lamp. The brooder is in the house so it doesn't get below 65 at night. However, outside it still dips below freezing at night but is pretty nice during the day. I'm sure I need to bring the heat lamp to the coop for a while to get them acclimated since my coop isn't completely air tight.

What is the best way to get the chicks used to the coop and make sure they survive their first night in their new home?

They do have a lot of feathers. I can't tell if they are "fully" feathered though. They are flying like crazy and can fly out of the brooder which has two foot high walls. I'm not sure I could block off an area that they wouldn't be able to fly over.
