from here in Alabama.. Glad you joined us. This is a great place to learn just about anything you ever wanted to know about chickens and then some!! Have fun...

Thanks for the kindness, Ms.FuzzyButts! (great nickname LOL) I am finding this to be a nice place to be, even for someone who has only spent about 4 hours in my life around chickens! I'm looking forward to lots of knowledge, and lots of fun, too!

Another hearty welcome from Portland area!!! Welcome welcome.... what kind of fowl are you bringing? or not... What are your breed faves... I know the lay of the land here...I am 20 min south of Portland...and 15 min north of Salem... Bring with you some sunshine please... Been too wet and gloomy here lately.

Very nice to hear from a couple of Oregonians! I am not bringing any chicks with me. The plan is to eventually (later in 2010) acquire a few just to get started. Where I live now, there is no way to keep them. But in time I will have mine!

Welcome from another Oregonian. Ken, if I can raise chickens so can you. Haven't been around them since I was a kid (over 50 yrs. ago:/) but banties were always my favorite. I'm the proud momma of 1 banty hen & 6 bigger girls. I'm a few miles south of Portland in the burbs (a finger of WA County surrounded by city). When you make the decision where to reside check out all the rules ahead of time. Some places do not allow chickens & you don't need that headache. Don't hesitate to contact me at any time. Love making new friends & sharing experiences.

Hi Ken!! I have to reitterate what Wesa said about the regulations! there's a few un-chicken friendly places here, but most of the area is great!! WELCOME!!!
