Moving

I will be moving from New Mexico to Montana soon and of course I will be taking my babies with me. Any suggestions on what I will need once we are in colder weather to help them?

A good coop ready for the cold season, if you go to the Chicken Coop area of the site and see how other people have their coops set up for the winter for the colder areas. When I was in Oklahoma, the times we had the colder winters I feed scratch to help them keep their own abilities to produce heat. I never used a heat lamp and I still go eggs all winter long and no losses. I know other people will chime in as soon as they see!

There are a ton of amazing people that are willing to help or answer any questions you may have, or just to chat!

There is also great information in the Learning Center, there are tons of articles covering just about everything you need to know on chickens, and other animals too.

Welcome to BYC! As Hope indicated, you need a well ventilated secure coop and run. Insulation is not needed, nor is heat.
