Anyone going to be at the Mt.Hope auction next Saturday (11/6)? We are planning on going and thought I'd see if any of my BYC peeps would be there selling. This is our first trip down so NO CLUE what to expect (any veterans want to share some tips?).

We will be looking at the pea's, pheasants and quail for sale, maybe some new hens too. Also, not even sure if there will be any, but I'd love to find some araucana hatching eggs.

If anyone else is going maybe we could setup an area to meet or something?!

here's a pic of DH and I if anyone sees us, just say HI! FYI, I will NOT look this 'put together' and will most likely have three very loud, young children either hanging on or around me. LOL

This is a recent pic from one of those rare opportunities without kids where I get to be a grown up (DH company banquet).

I am going to try and make it. It's a 2 hour drive for me, so that will be fun.

I'm a first timer to the show as well, but I've heard they have some really hard to find animals.

Planning to go, will be my 4th time. 6 hr drive for me! Have always went in the spring, not sure about the fall auction. If its half as good as spring it will be worth the trip.

I'm planning on going Friday. Taking a few silkie chicks and maybe a started welsummer pair. Go to the website to see the schedule. I'm pretty sure the chickens, geese, ducks and rabbits are on Friday morning. Then larger birds on Saturday(ostrich, emu etc). The last sale chickens were selling at a decent price. I had never been to an auction like that, there's lots to see...

Hi folks! can't believe it's been a whole year since I created this. DH and I will be driving down again this Friday, Nov 5 for the auction--luckily I have a sitter for the kiddos! Yes lots to see! I don't think it's quite as big as spring but it's still pretty good sized. We'll be bringing down a few mixed breed started birds (about 12 weeks) and a few peachicks. Hoping to find a few more RGP females and always like to check out what other pea's are for sale. never know what you are gonna find! last year we picked up two 'purple hens' um, nope two male purple blackshoulder yearlings! we lost one of them over winter but WOW, the other he is a beauty! we got them for a steal too so it's even sweeter.

here's a pic of him early this spring:

and here he is now, well about a month ago:

If anyone is interested in peachicks let me know I'd be happy to hold them back and sell direct to a BYCer if anyone wants them, we can meet up down there. I have three blackshoulder peachicks hatched in June of this year, two boys and a girl. I have another three peachicks, one female blackshoulder, two males that I believe are IB split to bronze those three were hatched in Aug. Not sure if I'm going to bring them all down or not. you can PM me if interested.

Yes, friday starts at 8am with peafowl, waterfowl, pheasants and bob white (quail). I think they start the other building around 9 but I'm not positive. Seems like all the times we've went they haven't started right on time either, more like 10-15 after.

Oh and for anyone that hasn't went before, i highly recommend trying the apple cider donuts from the vendor outside, they are fantastic! need to get to them before like 10 though or they are all gone!
