mud=( please help!

hi

as its been soo rainy and wet over winter , where my chickens live has become unbelievably muddy. they are in a normal chicken run with a small run, but we have added a larger run around this, this is where it's muddy. does any one know if there is any thing i can do to prevent this?? i was thinking of maybe covering the mud with some sand, or wood pellets any ideas??

I have been using straw where it's muddy in my run, but then in a week or so when I move the run I plan on tilling it in.
