Mud

[Nana of the ducks]

I have 4 mallards who live in the lower part of our back yard. This is where their house and kiddie pools are. The area is all dirt due to over hanging trees which does not let grass grow.the area around their pools gets so muddy. Any suggestions to remedy this

Although I do grow grass in the summer, I use a very thick layer of mulch to help keep the mud down. I also use plywood under the small pools. I do not empty the pools where it will add to the mud.
