There is nothing my duckies like better than a wet spot in the yard.

Oh my! My ducks do the same thing. As soon as I turn on the water for my daily chores, they are right there following the trail of water! I do wonder what is so great about mud, it must be good! I am enjoying our ducks, and they are so much more gentle than chickens. I do wish I could convince them to let me hold them!

Mine do the same thing. They will even take the water out of the water pan and put it just outside of it and start drilling. You can hear the splashing noises they make with their bills. I KNOW what they are doing!

I think they like to dig in the soft soil for yummies (I'm guesing here)

They really do look like they were having a great time playing.

I was so glad that I left the ducks locked in today. I was away from home until 6pm- and it was raining heavily from 10am. They would have had an absolute ball and I would have come home to holes everywhere and some very muddy ducks.

We got 5 inches over night, and they started their mouths up first thing wanting out into the low spot in the yard. I relented and they started their zoom-zoom theatrics before getting down to digging. It's a weedy area, more weeds than grass, so I told husband not to worry about it, we'll let them weed it until fall, fill it in and level it, then reseed it and cover it with fence.

Little does he know I'll just give them another mud pit elsewhere.

I let my gardens go to the ducks this year. They love these huge weeds, and the fat-butt Pekins tromp most everything down anyway.

At least 2 areas of garden area are nothing but mud slops for my feathered hogs.
