Muddy chicken run

I have a fenced In Chicken run that is 20 feet by 10 feet and I have a pond in my woods kinda close and it drains and it goes into my run and the run is very muddy and wet in one area what can I do about this???!!

Move the run? Dig a drainage ditch to the water goes somewhere else?


Seriously though, it needs to be dried up. If you go the route of spreading straw or shavings, its just going to temporarily solve the problem. However, a couple of bags of construction sand should keep things nice and dry. The pond can still drain where its currently draining, nothing has to be moved or rebuilt and the chickens feet stay dry and they aren't tracking mud everywhere.
