Muddy Delawarea and Brahma Hen...Bath Time?

For some reason my two white hens have turned brown whereas everyone else looks fine. The constant rain and outside time has caused their beautiful white feathers to get dirty. Can I give them baths to get them white again? If so, what can I use for shampoo?

I don't know! I've got a white EE who is brownish gray right now... I'll keep an eye on this thread.

unless you have them somewhere where they won't get muddy or dirty again, it is pretty much a losing battle until the rain stops and the mud goes away! mine are muddy too, I think you can give them a bath but I would use something mild for soap, like baby shampoo... or just water. and blow dry them so they don't get chilled. good luck!

Yep, you can. Dawn dish soap works fine or if you want them to be really white, use some dog shampoo with a bluing agent. Be careful not to use too much or the birds might turn blue! Also, make sure the water is warm; something that you would be comfortable sitting it. Then hold the birds in a towel. If it's warm enough outside they can air dry, but I prefer to blow dry them.

Ok, thanks you guys! I think I will go ahead and bathe them when it gets a little warmer. They aren't horribly disgusting, but I think it would be fun to bathe them anyway, haha!
