muddy run

I would go with lots of different stuff. Wood chips, leaves, sticks, grass(non fertilized). Make it like a forest floor. Starting with pine shavings worked for me and then I added all the other stuff as it became available.

While leaves can pack and get nasty, I've have never had a problem. Although it takes a lot of leaves.

going to try and add some 1in. gravel covered w/ 1/4in. river gravel. the spot is pretty rocky so i don't think the stone will sink into it too much. thanks for all the input.

I alleviated my mud problem by covering the run with a tarp and putting down shavings every few months.
i may do that for the summer months to help keep the rain out some. thanks.
