Mulch in Run??

We have a 4x8 roofed run and I would like to put down bark or mulch on the ground , would this be ok? Any other ideas for covering the ground in the run. I am trying to keep down the icky dirt factor and make it a little easier to rake/clean out.

I just put down two bags of Peat Moss. They really seem to love it. It's loose, they can dust bathe in it easily and it doenst make a muddy mess.

The thing with mulch is to just make sure it's not cedar as that is toxic to chickens.

What about redwood chips , like they use in kids play areas and gardens?

Sure, you could use the redwood chips, I'm just not sure how easy they would be to rake. It's worth a try.
